Political Career of Dost Muhammad Khosa
Sirdar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa is a prominent Pakistani politician affiliated with the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) party. Born on October 22nd, 1973, in Lahore, he is the youngest son of Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Tumandaar (Chief of Khosa Tribe). Khosa completed his matriculation and F.Sc. from Aitchison College, Lahore, and later graduated from the University of Punjab, Lahore. He is proficient in multiple languages, including Urdu, English, Saraiki, Balochi, and Persian.
Khosa’s political career began in 1999 when he was elected as a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) in Punjab after his father vacated his seat on becoming Governor of Punjab. In 2006, he was elected unopposed as Naib Zila Nazim of District D.G. Khan and resigned from the position in 2008 to contest general elections. Khosa was elected as an MPA again in 2008, and he became the youngest Chief Minister of Punjab for a brief period before relinquishing the charge to Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. He currently holds several portfolios in the Punjab Cabinet, including the Local Government & Community Development Department, Public Health Engineering, Housing & Urban Development Department, and Environment Department.
Khosa has also held various official positions in the government of Punjab. He served as Minister for Local Government & Community Development from June 2008 to June 2010, Minister (Additional Charge) for Housing & Urban Development/Environment from January 2009 to June 2010, and Minister for Commerce & Investment from June 2010 to April 2012.
