Haider Mehdi is a former officer of the Pakistan Army, corporate leader, management consultant, business trainer, and serial entrepreneur. He is currently the Convenor of The Strategy Study Group, which was founded by the late Col. S. G. Mehdi M. C, former Group Commander of the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG).

Haider Mehdi is the Founder and CEO of Management Excellence, but his journey to success was not an easy one. At 18, he joined the military to escape a strict home environment, but little did he know what he was getting into. He gave up on his dream of pursuing an MBA from a US university.
Sixteen years later, he was happily married with his first child, Sara, who had achieved her MBA from Boston University by working three part-time jobs, a full course load, and maintaining a 3.42 GPA. Despite his desire to become an entrepreneur, Haider ended up working in corporate environments.
After spending four years in a corporate job, he left to pursue his dream of entrepreneurship. For the next nine years, he enjoyed the bliss of running his own business until his first bankruptcy. During this time, his second child, Shayaan, was born.
Haider then became an academic, teaching at a university for three years before returning to corporate life for another three years. Finally, he managed to get out of his financial hole.
He restarted his entrepreneurial journey, which lasted for seven years until his second bankruptcy. This led him to become a serial bankrupt preneur, with his third child, Shaan, joining the family.
Haider then drove for Uber, as he did not want to work for anyone else. However, he later re-entered the corporate world, but this turned out to be a bad decision. He hated the job, but thankfully he was made redundant after only one and a half years.
Although he loved the ego-flattening and life-changing experience at Uber, Haider restarted his entrepreneurial journey again at the age of 63. Over the last five years, he has dabbled in media, politics, and blogging.
Haider’s life story teaches us some valuable lessons. He never gave up, kept learning, did what he loved, made friends and nurtured relationships, depended on himself, established routines, and most importantly, took action. His journey shows that perseverance, determination, and a willingness to adapt are essential qualities for anyone pursuing their dreams.
