Father of Mansha, founder and History of Niashat Group
Mian Mohammad Yahya, who was born in 1918 in Chiniot, is considered the founding father of Nishat. He witnessed the historic changes that occurred during the partition of the Indo-Pak subcontinent in 1947 while running a leather business in Calcutta. Following the creation of Pakistan, he migrated to the new country along with many others.
Through hard work and an unwavering entrepreneurial spirit, Yahya built a successful business empire. He started with a cotton export house and expanded into ginning, cotton and jute textiles, chemicals, and insurance. He also served as the Chairman of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association, the country’s leading textile body.
Sadly, Yahya passed away at the young age of 51 in 1969, but not before achieving so much in a short period of time.
After his passing, Mian Mohammad Mansha took up the mantle of leadership and continued the entrepreneurial spirit of his father. Under his guidance, Nishat has grown into a multi-dimensional corporation with diverse interests. Today, Nishat is known as the premier business group in Pakistan, having evolved from a simple cotton export house.
