Second marriage

Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa has confirmed his second marriage to a young woman from a respected family of the Khan of Kalat. The 79-year-old Khosa married 35-year-old Faryal in Karachi, with members of the two families in attendance. Faryal, who is said to be wealthy and an office-bearer of the PML-N in Karachi, reportedly gifted expensive cars to Khosa’s sons from his first wife. Khosa sought permission from his first wife Nadra Begum, who reportedly has a spinal bone disease and is wheelchair-bound, before marrying Faryal. Khosa has three sons from his first wife.

The former Punjab government’s decision to remarry has caused a stir, given his age and the fact that another known polygamist, Ghulam Mustafa Khar, five years younger than Khosa, has announced his retirement from the practice. Khosa’s youngest son, Dost Khosa, previously made headlines for allegedly having an affair with a film star. Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar, who has set a record of marrying eight times, praised Khosa’s decision to remarry, saying it was better than engaging in extramarital affairs.
